The Town of Fort White is located directly off several main thoroughfares; US Hwy. 27, US Hwy. 47, and CR 18, making it a desirable location for growth. In addition, Fort White is near several State Parks, three (3) major rivers, and crystal-clear springs, some with underwater caves all of which provide many recreational opportunities such as boating, fishing, swimming, diving, spelunking, canoeing, kayaking, tubing, bird watching, hiking, biking, etc.
Fort White is located within Columbia County, with Lake City, Florida being the County Seat. Lake City is home to Gateway College and St. Leo College and the VA Hospital. Gainesville is home to Santa Fe College and the University of Florida, home of the Gators, and many nationally ranked sporting teams

Fun Facts About Fort White
Fort White is named after a military fort built in the 1830s. It is the closest town to Ichetucknee Springs State Park. Fort White was originally constructed as a military fort during the Second Seminole War in 1836 to protect the Cow Creek settlement. Supplies were brought in by steamboat on the Santa Fe River and distributed to other area forts. Due to sickness, flooding along the river and rumors of the railroad coming to the area, the settlement was moved 4 miles (6 km) east to its present location.
Currently Fort White lists a population of just 600 residents.
